How to get there

Every step towards preserving the beauties and wonders of the island and its marine environment.

From August 2025 to August 2026:

  • Guests head out with our marine team, and every sighting is logged into the national record that tracks the Maldives' manta population.

  • Ocean science taught a few metres from the reef it describes, open to guests and to children from Hanimaadhoo.

  • Young Maldivians come to the Barefoot to learn how a hotel is run and how the reef around it is looked after.

  • Staff and guests walk the shoreline together, clearing what the tide brings in before it makes its way back out.

  • A tropical beach with white sand, turquoise water, and a boat near the shore, backed by lush green trees and a partly cloudy sky.
